Schoolhouse lighting is a classic vintage style defined by characteristic rounded, bell-shaped or spherical translucent glass shade. The Schoolhouse shade is traditionally made of an opaque milk or opal glass, that completely envelopes the light bulb and defuses the light to a soft even glow. Clear glass is also used which gives the light a more contemporary feel. Clear glass can be chosen along with opal or colorful pinstripe (see examples below).
